10 Best Cyber Security Companies 2018
CIO Bulletin
Cyber-crime is constantly increasing, and many smaller businesses are extremely pregnable as a result of ineffective cybersecurity. IT security solutions are essential for all kinds of businesses, particularly when you think about how important the internet and your digital systems are for your day-to-day operations.
Discerning the exceeding cybersecurity issues, Secure Anchor was set up in the year 2004 to help organizations implement effective and cost-effective cybersecurity solutions that actually work. What does every organization that has had a major breach have in common? They all spent a lot of money on security and still compromised. Secure Anchor uses its extensive expertise to build custom, effective security solutions that help organizations both prevent and detect attacks in a timely manner.
Secure Anchor’s mission is to make cyberspace a safe place to live work and raise a family. The company has three verticals and they are consulting, training and expert witness that helps to make entities aware that security does not have to be hard if you focus in on the correct areas.
Eric Cole, Founder, and CEO discussed about the company’s initial projects. One of them was for a research organization that processes over $600 million transactions and they needed to be PCI compliant. They brought in 3 prior companies all which spent several million dollars and several years and they failed every audit. Focusing on de-scoping and compensating controls, Secure Anchor came in and within 5 months and less than $500k the firm had them fully PCI compliant. This is when Eric realized that Secure Anchor had something special and expertise that few other firms had. To be really good at cybersecurity you not only have to know the technology, but you also have to be creative and think like an executive.
Like all companies, Secure Anchor also had some challenges to face. In the beginning, they had to be very careful in writing a proposal and scoping out the work. Open-ended contracts can run up expenses very quickly and reduce profit; however, making contracts so narrow and specific have a high probability of frustrating the client. Finding the right balance in which you create a win-win situation is key. “Always do what is in the best interest of your customer and the business will come,” suggests Eric.
The secret behind company’s consistent growth as mentioned by Eric is “Passion about quality and over promising and over delivering. I always tell our customers that we want to WOW you.”
Eric mentions that he has an open relationship with his employees and they interact as peers to resolve an issue. The CEO has a set of key rules which he reveals:
Eric feels that it is important to listen to employees but everyone has to recognize that there are sometimes better ways to do things and some decisions might not make sense for the company. While you want your employees to have a fun, engaging environment there also has to be some boundaries in place.
Excellent piece of advice from the CEO
Starting a company is easy when there is only one person. You do not have to have a lot of work; however, as you grow and expenses increase it is critical to create a sustainable source of income. The larger you grow the less chance there is for you to have a bad month.
