We reach out a hand to turn the search into a companionable, supportive journey: Collabera

Hiring the right person for the right job is a tricky affair, and most of the time the process goes wrong due to weak recruitment strategies. This is where a corporate staffing agency comes into play. Scanning through resumes, verifying qualifications, screening candidates, and finally short-listing a few prospective ones can be a tedious process. A corporate staffing agency helps you to reduce the workload, and offers many other benefits like reducing overall labor time and cost of hiring, minimizing bad hires, improving productivity, and offers you the ability to cast a wider reach.

Collabera established in 1991, changed the way corporate staffing solutions and services are provided. The company’s mission has been to prioritize building its relationships over building its bottom line. Simply put, Collabera cares about people.

Looking for a job is a tough, grinding, and often fruitless journey; so too the search to find passionate, inspired staff, capable of turning a vision into a success. The most common response to “how’s the job search going?” Usually, a loud, lengthy groan.

Collabera reaches out a hand to turn the search into a companionable, supportive journey. A journey that certainly doesn’t inspire groaning, and one that is never taken alone.

The company’s supportive employee network helps place talented professionals at innovative companies around the world, providing continuous support for both the client and consultant throughout the length of each project.

Collabera, originally G.C.I., was purchased with the intent to help people find their dream jobs and give clients the support they need to hire the right person for the role.

The company’s goal is to be responsive, disciplined, and passionate about everything it does. Collabera’s corporate culture is what makes it, and it’s that culture that will carry the company forward to becoming the leading provider of the top talent in the IT services industry.

The company’s journey has not always been a breakaway success. At one point, the company failed to make the vendor list with its top Telecom client. Rather than giving up or giving in, the company requested a 90 day period to “prove itself” to the client. Collabera agreed to the ultimatum: if it didn’t exceed their expectations, they could remove the firm from the list. The firm buckled down and committed to the challenge—20 years later, Collabera is still a top vendor for this client. “How we face our challenges is what sets us apart. Our team is so dedicated and it’s that customer-centric model that has driven our growth,” says Hiten Patel, CEO, and Chairman.

Another initial struggle Collabera faced was to scale up its business. After beginning with just one key client, it was difficult to gain a lot of traction in the industry. But, Collabera never gave up and put in the time and energy to ensure it delivered the best-in-business client experience that became its foundation. Attracting the right talent to grow the business was a challenge – 20 years later its management team is still strong and together.

Collabera’s first priority is its employees and this is what Hiten has to say…

Our biggest asset is our people. They are engaged and know that their ideas and opinions matter—it’s huge! Our employees are the heart of our ability to innovate—every day they come up with amazing new ideas. When we listen to them, empower them, and allow them to work autonomously, we foster a sense of ownership and pride in our employee’s everyday work. Our commitment to our employee’s growth and development has never been more prevalent than it is today: in the past 3 years, we’ve grown our learning and development team by 100%. We want our employees to succeed and we look to our own staff first when we are planning an expansion.

Giving key people the autonomy to work and, more importantly, to make decisions has been essential for the development of our teams. I find the best way to see what an employee can do is to trust them to make the right choices and to learn from their own mistakes. They have to drive their own success, and they know that their growth within Collabera is in their own hands. We have limitless opportunities for growth right now, so giving them ownership over their own path is really the best motivator.

In the coming years, the company intends to become a key global player in the professional services industry. “With such a heavy focus on innovation and automation right now, I am eager to see Collabera become one of the most digitally enabled companies within our space. As for myself, I look forward to mentoring the next generation of leaders who are poised to emerge from our pool of amazingly talented staff,” says Hiten Patel.

Backdrop of the ace

Hiten Patel graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey, with a background in engineering. After spending several years in some of the top companies in the world, Hiten left IBM when the opportunity to purchase Collabera presented itself. He took up loans from friends and family and vowed to pay back with a very high-interest rate—giving him the motivation and drive to see Collabera become a success.

“Collabera is an intersection of hopes, of dreams, of problem solving, and growth; it’s a responsibility we take seriously.”

"At the end of every day, we're better than we were at the start."
