We’ve all been annoyed with those ridiculous notifications that Facebook bombards with every time we check our phone. Well not anymore, Facebook is rolling out a change. It’s now possible to turn off notification dots for some icons on the shortcuts bar and even remove some of those shortcuts entirely.
As of now, it is available only on iOS but will soon hit Android too. According to reports, the latest feature is easy to use. All you have to do is Tap and hold on an icon on the shortcuts bar, and a menu will pop up that will provide you with a choice to remove the icon from the bar or turn off the red-dots.
“We are rolling out navigation bar controls to make it easier for people to connect with the things they like and control the notifications they get within the Facebook app,” stated a Facebook spokesperson.
Earlier this month, Facebook was also testing hiding likes in its subsidiary Instagram. All these developments indicate that the social media giant is trying to regain the confidence of people by introducing user-friendly updates and is working more towards their digital wellbeing.
This can also be fruitful for Facebook because users are less likely to use Facebook if it constantly keeps poking the user with notifications and this change may be a good way to address that issue.
