Known for its family networking app that connects through mobile devices, Life360 has made a new acquisition today. Life360 has acquired PathSense and the developing team behind it. For those who aren’t aware of PathSense, it’s the company that created location-based mobile application toolkit. By using PathSense’s toolkit, you can build out its location-based offerings.
The new acquisition sees to it that all the employees of PathSense will be joining Life360. Also, the technology that PathSense developed will be licensed under Life360. Together, the companies will further develop family networking and security monitoring services.
Sensing and Detecting
Sources say that Life360 will be applying PathSense’s technology for its crash detection services. In case of an accident for families, Life360’s solution will be able to detect it, using PathSense’s GPS technology. Currently, PathSense uses less battery power for its location software and sensing technology, when compared with other GPS apps.
According to Alex Haro, the co-founder and CTO of Life360, the PathSense technology will be helping Life360 users with a world-class car crash detection and response system. He said that the PathSense’s technology and team’s expertise will be used in Life360’s sensors that are available on smartphones and will be placed in a unique way.
