Google’s new initiative allows you to say goodbye to delivery apps. You can now order your food directly from Google Maps or Search or even from Google Assistant. Although you order directly from Google, it’ll still be delivery boys from Postmates, ChowNow, Slice, Deliver.com, and DoorDash who will deliver the food to you. The entire thing works on Google’s partnerships with these delivery companies.
The plus point here is that you get to order directly from Google instead of downloading an additional app. You won’t even have to visit their website. To order on Google, you’ll find a new ‘Order Online’ button while searching for tie-up restaurants on the app that support Google’s food ordering option.
Users are also given a choice if they want delivery or a pickup and also which service you wish to order from. If the restaurant has a tie-up and supports Google’s new food retail venture, the order will be placed. All of this takes place on Google’s platform. You can even pay through Google Pay. You can also place the order by using the Assistant. Just say “Hey, Google. Order food from…” Once the restaurant page opens, you can make a selection there and proceed to payment and placing the order.
Right now, Google has the support from five delivery companies and plans to add Zuppler in the near future. Other food delivery operations like Uber Eats, Deliveroo, etc. haven’t signed up with Google yet.
