The retail war is intensifying as the holiday season looms. Target has announced that it will be offering same-day delivery service and its drive up service all over the U.S. And in addition, the retailer has said that it will also offer free two-day shipping to everyone who shops with them with no bar on a minimum purchase they make. By doing this, they go one over Amazon which offers this service for its Prime members only.
The service will be for all who shop with them without the requirement of any membership and it is starting from November 1. The CEO Brian Cornell was jubilant and said that with the same-day delivery service there is no other retailer matching them when it comes to delivery options. “When you combine these services with our incredible assortment of exclusive brands, every day low prices, and skilled team, I’m confident Target will be America’s easiest and most enjoyable place to shop for the holidays and beyond”.
The same-day delivery option indeed does set the retailer apart from its competition before the holidays but it will be interesting to see if it will be able to beat Amazon in holiday sales. All we can do is wait for the holidays to get over before we get to know who the winner of this fight is.
