Ozark and Nixa robotics teams win FIRST LEGO League

Finally, the hard work of Ozark Middle School and Nixa Junior High School paid off after winning the Regional competition: FIRST LEGO League. Twelve teams participated in the competition which was held in Nixa Junior High School on November 10.

FIRST LEGO League helps children understand science and technology better. This competition’s core values are discovery, innovation, impact, inclusion, teamwork and fun. This year’s Into Orbit Challenge focused on long-duration space exploration.

Ozark’s Powerbots team, the winner and Telebots team, the second winner are all set to take part in the state competition Dec. 8, in Camdenton.

Other competitors from Ozark included the Herobots, which received the Judges’ Choice Award, the Invisabots, and the Wonderbots.

“I am so proud of our students. Their dedication to continuous learning and gracious professionalism is astounding,” Ozark Middle School Robotics coach Chelsie Floyd said.

Chelsie added that it is a proud moment for the school, and it all happened because of the students’ sheer determination and perseverance to beat obstacles.

The competed areas included: robot design, programming, research, and core values. Three teams from Nixa Junior High School will further be competitors for the state championship in Camdenton.
