T-Mobile has come out with a new offering which provides cellular backup for your Nest Secure online, in case the WiFi fails. All of Nest’s security devices have to be connected to WiFi to send you a text about any alarm going off. However, due to unnatural circumstances, your WiFi goes down and there’s no Internet, you won’t be getting any of those alerts from the Nest app.
This is where T-Mobile has stepped in. Nest and T-Mobile will be working together to bring a cellular backup into the Secure system. The T-Mobile Nest plan costs $240 down and $10 per month for 24 months on the Equipment Installment Plan. Once a $5 monthly credit is applied, it will be available for a limited time only, says T-Mobile. The catch here is that in case you cancel your wireless service plan before the 24 months, you'll have to pay the remaining balance.
From the looks of it, the combined idea seems to be appealing and T-Mobile’s offer is cheaper and better. If you want to buy the setup without T-Mobile's service, you can get it for $698 through Nest.
