Snapchat announces a standalone app to edit stories

During Snap Partner Summit, Snap has announced a new app for the creators. Named Story Studio, the app is currently only available to iOS users. It provides several editing tools that can help you make very professional content. Essential story editing tools are already there in the Snapchat app. But this new Story Studio app is aimed at content creators making content for Spotlight, which is a TikTok-style short video feed. The editing of videos requires a lot of professional tools, due to which Snapchat decided to come up with its standalone editing app.

The Story Studio app includes sounds, topics, lenses, etc., which you can use to mix and create your own Spotlight based on the current trend. Snap says that Story Studio lets you trim your shots with frame-precise editing. You can add captions, stickers, and other visual elements. You can also take advantage of the company’s licensed music catalog. And because it’s supposed to be a professional app for stories, you can save a project and edit it later.

When the editing is complete, you can share the video with Snapchat. However, the app allows the edited videos to be shared on other platforms as well. According to Snap, the Story Studio is launching later this year and available on iOS, while the Android version may soon be available.

In addition to Story Studio, Snap is also launching a web platform for Spotlight. This will allow users to watch Spotlight content without launching Snapchat even on the web on their desktop computer. The new web version will also allow new users to join the platform.
