Nintendo Co., Ltd. a well known Japanese multinational consumer electronics and video game company is showing interest in the new 5th generation (5G) and its advanced technologies.
Nintendo has been experimenting with streaming of cloud-based games on the Switch in Japan which requires a very high quality Wi-Fi connection.
5G connections would make streaming on the Switch easy with the new cutting-edge network technology. 5G networks are the next generation of mobile internet connectivity, offering faster speeds with the average download speeds of around 1Gbps and also more reliable connections on smartphones and other devices than ever before.
“5G transmits a large amount of data with very high speed. We are aware that this technology has been gaining a lot of attention, and Nintendo is also investigating and also says it is not yet ready for jumping straight onto a 5G bandwagon but will instead think about both how the technology will be applied to game play and what new experiences and game play we can offer consumers as a result of that application,” says senior executive officer of Nintendo, Ko Shiota.
Nintendo also told its shareholders that it won’t simply “chase trends”.
