Cisco to work with Colombia to give cybersecurity a push

Cisco and Colombia are entering into a partnership to help drive the country’s economic scenario and its efforts towards developing the cybersecurity workforce. Cisco and the Colombian President Ivan Duque Marquez made a joint announcement today declaring their commitment to the same.

The joint efforts will help fund and develop secure digital solutions which will, in turn, help Colombia achieve its social and economic goals through its Country Digital Acceleration Program (CDA). This combined effort is further aimed at raising the quality of life in the Latin American country and help create jobs and enhance workforce education and competitiveness. They aim to train over 10,000 Colombians in cybersecurity skills in the first year of the collaboration.

Commenting on the partnership Michael Timmeny, SVP & Chief Government Strategy Officer at Cisco said: “Working with government, industry, and academia in Colombia, Cisco’s CDA program aims to help redefine healthcare and education, create digital age jobs and enable Colombia to be a leader in Latin America in the new digital economy.”

Cisco is going to partner with government leaders, entrepreneurs, academics, ecosystem partners and technology companies in Colombia to drive – innovation in education, health and digital health, and cybersecurity. The company is also going to expand its Networking Academy program to help enhance entrepreneurship and digital skills in the country.
