Mozilla Firefox releases an urgent update

Firefox browser has been issued a red alert with a zero-day flaw that’s been actively exploited. If your Firefox browser is running on versions 67.0.3 or Firefox ESR 60.7.1, it’ s better to update the browser right away. This type of security flaw isn’t something that you’ll see every day. Mozilla has issued an emergency patch to plug the flaw.

Mozilla explains the cybersecurity compromise as a type of confusion vulnerability that can “occur when manipulating JavaScript objects due to issues in Array.pop. This can allow for an exploitable crash. We are aware of targeted attacks in the wild abusing this flaw.”

The bug was found by Samuel Groß, a member of both Google’s Project Zero security research division and the Coinbase Security team. However, it remains unclear what the hackers are trying to achieve with the flaw. Maybe they’re stealing cryptocurrency.

That’s enough to worry about. Here’s what you can do- restart your browser which will automatically update it. Or, you can also click on the ‘hamburger’ icon and search ‘update’ in the search box. Next, you simply need to click on ‘restart to update Firefox’ button and it’s done. You can be sure that your browser is updated when you see the “Congrats! You’re using the latest version of Firefox” message on your webpage once you relaunch the browser.
