Google has redesigned its Docs, Slides, and Sheets app on Android that gives them a close resemblance to the company’s G Suite app.
There’s no change in the functionality of these apps but more of a visual upgrade which is happening for the first time in Slides and Docs.
Google is focusing on UI improvements and calls it a material redesign for these three apps. The company is now providing users with ‘highly legible’ typefaces, a restyled document list and consistent controls across the three mobile products.
This is more of a follow-up update on the material design which Google has been rolling out since the beginning of the year. The latest updates are already available in Google Docs and Slides on Android.
The company has been busy redesigning all of its major apps this year including the Google Drive, and Chrome browser for both Android and iOS platforms. Users who found the earlier update reasonable can well adjust with the latest release.
Google brought its own app as a competition to the alternatives that are provided on both the mobile platforms, namely Microsoft’s office suite. Although the number of people using spreadsheets or word documents on mobile is quite less, the same app can be used in tablets.
